Shipping
Is shipping actually free, or is this a trick?
It's free. Every mat ships free to any US address, no minimum and no code.
How fast do you ship?
We make every mat when you order it. Coconut coir fiber doormats ship within 2 business days.
All-weather doormats can take up to an extra 5 business days to be ready for shipping.
You get an email with tracking the moment your mat is handed over to the mail carrier.
Custom mats take longer, see the custom mats section below.
Where's my mat?
Check your inbox for the "your order has shipped" email. It has your tracking number.
No email yet? Coir mats ship within 2 business days, and all-weather mats can take up to 5 business days longer. If your mat is past that, write to damngooddoormats@gmail.com with the name on the order and we'll track it down.
Do you ship outside the US?
Yes: Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the EU... If you don't see. your country, just ask.
International orders are limited to medium and large coir mats and the medium all-weather mat. Your rate shows at checkout, in US dollars.
Don't see your country? Email us and we'll work out a rate.
I typed the wrong address and now I'm sweating.
Email us right away. Coir mats ship within 2 business days, so the sooner we hear from you, the better your odds. Once a mat is with the carrier, we can't promise a fix.
Returns and damage
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
No. We make every mat to order just for you, so we don't take returns. Custom mats can never be returned.
Not sure about the size or style? The Tammy Sandwiches mat finder is the place to sort that out before you buy.
My mat showed up wrecked. Now what?
Shipping is rough, even on doormats. Email damngooddoormats@gmail.com right away with a photo of the mat and the box it came in. Add your phone number and the email address you want on the carrier's insurance claim. We write back the next business day with options, and we'll make it right.
Picking a mat
Coir or all-weather? What's the deal?
Pick by where the mat will live, not by the design. Every design comes in both materials.
If it sits on a covered porch, in a breezeway, a mudroom or an indoor entry, coir works and works well. If rain, snow or full sun will hit it, get all-weather. Coir under open sky fades fast and falls apart faster.
One more difference: coir ships within 2 business days, and all-weather can take up to an extra 5 business days to be ready for shipping.
What are these things made of?
Coir mats are coconut husk fiber, machine-printed with UV-resistant ink. All-weather mats are recycled rubber with a fabric front and a non-slip back.
Will it fit my front door?
Coir comes in 8 sizes, from a skinny 12x26 inches up to a 36x72 doublewide. The 18x30 medium is the most popular. All-weather comes in 18x30, 24x36 and 30x47 inches. Every product page has a size chart.
I can't decide. Help.

Care
My new coir mat is shedding. Is it broken?
No, that's normal. Coir ships rolled up in a box, and loose fibers shake free along the way. Open it outside if you can and give it a good shake. Expect a little more shedding over its first week or two while the fibers settle. It stops on its own.
Can I hose it off?
An all-weather mat, yes. Rinse it with a hose, let it dry, done.
A coir mat, no. Soaking breaks the fibers down and washes the color out. Shake it out gently or use a stiff broom, and keep it out of direct sun and rain.
Will the design fade?
Eventually. Sun mellows any printed design over time, even when you place the mat carefully, and coir edges fray a little with foot traffic. All-weather mats hold their color and shape longer. That's wear, not a defect.
Visible damage the day it arrives is a different story. See "My mat showed up wrecked" above. The full rundown is in our doormat care guide.
Gifts
Can you ship my gift straight to the lucky victim?
Yes. Put their address in as the shipping address at checkout.
My gift is going to be late. Panic?
Don't panic, email us. If a mat won't make it in time, we can send a printable gift card so they have something to open on the day.
I have no idea what they'd like.
Email us about a gift card, so they can pick their own mat. It beats guessing a size, since we can't take returns.
Custom mats
Can you make a mat just for me?
Yes. Start on our Custom Door Mats shelf. Custom mats take 2 to 3 weeks to make and can't be returned. Got an idea that isn't on the shelf? Email it to us.
Who's behind this?
Who makes these?
Spoon and Lee started Damn Good Doormats in 2009 because a big box store had no doormat that fit their style. We're still independent, and every mat is still made to order. More on the about us page.
